Welcome to our Match Reports page. There will not necessarily be a report on every match and nor will it be a blow by blow account, more of a general personal view of the day by the writer. |
There will also occasionally be items on other matters such as waters that we have visited, tackle shops etc. |

2011 and the Year Ahead2011 has been quite a year for Lee Green AC. This is a list of some of our
achievements:
2012 could be an exciting year. We have most of the venues booked and the others should be finalised by the end of January. There are some old favourites, some that we haven't fished for a few years, and some completely new ones. Whatever happens we shall have fun. Tight lines everyone. The Edge Back to Top |

20th November and 4th December 2011 Pittlands and Orchard Farm, Lake 6Unfortunately I missed both of these matches. I had been looking forward to Orchard Farm in particular having heard so many good reports about it. In the end both venues succombed to the cold weather, though we didn't have to break the ice as we did for the last two matches last year. p> Despite the cold though we had already broken our record weight for the season from 2009 with a final total weight of 16778-0-8 Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone. 6th November 2011 Willow Lake, Tylers CommonI missed this match but Willow Lake seems to have lived up to it's reputation of producing even when it's windy. Dave B earned himself a long overdue win and the club took its total weight for the season to over 16500 pounds with another 2 matches to go. p> Well done everyone The Edge Back to Top |

23rd October 2011 ArransAll I can say is WOW!!! I'm sick as a parrot that I missed this one. Arrans lived up to its reputation and threw up some brilliant weights including 6 Personal Bests. Top of the pile was Bob Edwards with, by his standards, a sedate 272-15-8 which is the new top one day weight of the season. In 2nd place with a New PB of 225-5-0 was Mark Wheatcroft. In 3rd place also with a New PB of 200-12-8, which was 75lbs better than his previous best, was Terry Benson. A bit further down the field was Mick Howard with a New PB of 133-14-0 which I'm told finally stopped him moaning about his peg. Just behind Mick was Jamie Rawbone with a long overdue 'ton' at 119-10-0. Dougie Watts pushed his PB to 94-8-0 and even our regular visitor, Nick, had a New PB of 97-13-0. The top 10 all had over 100lbs! The Total Weight for the Day was 1881-3-8 which takes our Seasons Record Total to 15,942-1-0 As I said earlier WOW!!! The Edge Back to Top |

9th October 2011 ChartOnce again Chart reminded us what a great fishery it is and why we all look forward to going there. Although some of us struggled with finicky fish, others all around the lake enjoyed some of the best sport of the season. Special mention has to go to Bob Edwards who regained the Club Venue Record and set the highest one day weight of the season so far with a winning catch of 249-0-0, new member Mark Wheatcroft with 2nd place and 164-14-0. John Stuart in 4th place set a new PB with 97-1-0 (don't worry John you will break the ton soon) and Jamie Rawbone with a new PB of 44-4-8 On top of all this, the total catch for the day of 1,283-12-8 means that we have a total weight for the seasons so far of 14,060-13-8 which means that we have already beaten our previous seasons record from 2009 of 13,765-12-0 and we still have 4 matches to go. Well done everybody! The Edge Back to Top |

25th September 2011 Monks 3I wasn't at this match due to family committments but I gather that I missed out on some mixed fortunes. It appears that the end pegs were the most productive with carp making the biggest impact as usual. Well done to Simon for setting a new club record for the lake and to everybody for smashing last years total catch with 5 matches to go. The total to date now stands at 12,777-1-0, only 1000lbs short of our 2009 record. I'm looking forward to seeing you all at Chart. The Edge Back to Top |

4th and 11th September 2011 BuxtedWe always look forward to Buxted even though it does take a bit more organising than the other venues we fish. Our faith this year was well rewarded as usual with Bob Edwards showing us the way to do it with over 186lbs and 4 other weights over 100lb and plenty of other good back up weights. Even down in 10th place I had over 50lbs and a thoroughly enjoyable day. Our match weights this year have been much better than last and with a total caught so far of 11648-2-8 we are only a tad short of our total last year and with 6 matches to go we are well on the way to beating our previous record weight of 13765-12-0 in 2009. Keep up the great work everyone but above all remember to have fun. The Edge Back to Top |

21st August 2011 Newland Hall Moat LakeThere has been quite a bit of discussion about whether or not we should continue to include Newland Hall in our venues list as we have noticed that catches have been falling off over the last few years. It has always been the most expensive venue we use and in the past we have been able to justify the expense due to the good bags of fish which were caught. According to the literature they have sent out they have spent £30,000 renovating and restocking. All I can say is that it doesn't show. To add insult to injury they were offering a £50 discount for bookings this year but only if you had not already booked. As we try to plan a bit further ahead we did not qualify for the discount. So much for loyalty. We have been offered a similar discount for next year but I don't think we will be taking them up on it. Even after the discount it is still almost the most expensive venue we use and frankly the results, under 600lbs between 10 anglers, do not justify the price. The Edge Back to Top |

14th August 2011 Gabriels Farm Silver LakeLast years match showed us what a difficult lake this can be to fish and this match confirmed it. The weather was good, rather like Cackle Hill, and the fishery looked good, as always, but the fish were mostly few and far between. If you were lucky enough to hook a carp the chances were that it would dive into the nearest patch of vegetation and you would lose all your terminal tackle. With the cost of feeders these days the cost soon mounted up. Nobody expects it to be easy but this has got beyond a joke especially when the lake seems to be very 'peggy'. The total weight for the day of just over 285lbs from a bunch of mostly very experienced anglers says it all. I fancy that this is another venue to be crossed off our Christmas card list. 31st July 2011 Cackle Hill Match LakeCackle Hill seems to be a bit of an enigma. We know it is stuffed with good fish but all the fish seem reluctant to put in appearance during matches and so it was this time. It was classic carp weather when you would expect to see them cruising around on the top but I didnt see any. I was drawn behind the island, which I understand is not a favoured area, and in the morning all I could get were silvers on the pole line though they moved out about lunch time. I eventually managed to catch a few carp on the feeder in the afternoon and just managed to nick third place by a few ounces. From what I can gather this was fairly typical of the lake. The highlight of my day was seeing the look on Dave's face when the carp he thought he had on turned out to be a 2-5-0 perch. Nice one Dave. I'll even forgive you for winding me up all week about how you were going to give me, and the Troll, a hiding. Better luck next time.
Dave frightening the fish - and everyone else! The Edge Back to Top |

10th July 2011 Sumners Match LakeAfter a great day out at Tylers last time everybody was well looking forward to Sumners. Biagio finally managed to put together one of the great catches that we all know he is capable off and set a new PB, Club Venue Record and Highest Weight of the Season so far with 227-2-8 and left everybody else gasping in his wake although there were some very creditable back up weights. For my part, I was tired / drew badly / fished even worse and went home early and missed the best part of the day. How many more excuses do you want? The Edge Back to Top |

3rd July 2011 Tylers - Ash LakeAll I can say is WOW! Having finally got on Ash lake when there wasn't a gale blowing from end to end everybody set about the fishing with gusto. Mark B managed to beat the old Club Venue Record by a country mile and set the highest weight of the season so far, though even he was beaten by one of our guests, and you had to catch over 180lbs to get in the frame. In fact the first 8 club members all beat the old club record. Well done every one. I guess I'll just have to try harder next time. The Edge Back to Top |

19th June 2011 Monks - Lake 4After some very wet and windy days leading up to this match, we were all concerned that the weather man had got it wrong again but it actually turned out to be a warm, sunny and, mostly, dry day though it was rather windy. Generally speaking the fishing wasn't too bad either and I even managed to up my top weight so far this season. The Edge Back to Top |

6th June 2011 Hartleylands ReservoirIt may have been cold, wet and windy but that didn't stop one of our members turning up in tee shirt and shorts, much to everyones amusement. The fishing itself was a bit mixed although the fish themselves did keep on coming as they were actually warmer than we were and you had to search hard for them. Not a bad day overall, apart from the weather. The Edge Back to Top |

8th May 2011 WoodpeckerApart from the heavy rain when we were arriving the weather was quite pleasant except for a fairly strong wind which affected some areas of the lake. The fishing was a bit mixed. At the midday weigh-in I had a reasonable lead over the rest of the field but Mark B sorted that out in the afternoon with a couple of splendid common carp of 12-1-0 and 18-6-0 which pushed him up to first place. I thought that I wasn't catching as well as the morning but in fact caught more and managed to hang onto second place for the second year in succession. The place is still a bit of an enigma to me The Edge Back to Top |

17th April 2011 RockellsA beautiful lake full of hungry fish. Sunshine with a gentle breeze. What more can you ask for? Well in my case it was a few more fish, quite a few more in fact. Never mind though because Rockells lived up to it's excellent reputation and produced good catches pretty well all around the lake including a new club venue record for Bob E of 219-15-0. Well done everyone. I'm looking forward to getting my revenge next year. The Edge Back to Top |

3rd April 2011 Hartleyland ReservoirUnfortunately I missed this match due to duties associated with Mother's Day but it looks as though I missed a decent day out. I will add more info when I get a chance to chat to those that were there. The Edge Back to Top |

20th March 2011 ArransIn spite of the improvement in the weather over the last few weeks, the overnight frost made this quite a difficult outing for most of us. Indeed, I must say a big thank you to Dave B because without the maggots he kindly gave me I would have had a very desolate day. Normally, even at this time of year, you would need over 100lbs to frame but today was the exception with the silverfish far outweighing the carp in most peoples nets especially for Terry B who spent all day pulling out over 43lbs of small roach and rudd. Not our greatest day at Arrans but the weights were generally pretty good and nobody blanked. The Edge Back to Top |

6th March 2011 Brook FarmWell our 2011 season started pretty much as it left off in 2010 with a match at a very cold Brook Farm. At least we didn't have to break the ice this time although it did feel like it for a while. After about an hour trying to buy a bite on pole or feeder I decided to make a nuisance of myself and catch up with some of the guys that I hadn't seen for over 3 months. I was quite pleased to find that most of them were suffering a lack of bites as well, the main exception being Mark G who was fishing next to me. He was still catching while I was away so I decided that I had better go and try to catch up and had 4 carp on the trot. I then carried on catching steadily for the rest of the day and almost did catch him up at one time. In the end Mark won the match about 16lbs ahead of me. Shame I wasted those first couple of hours. Well done Mark on a good win in very trying conditions. The Edge Back to Top |
